Boys Over Flowers – Korean Drama

“Boys Over Flowers” is a South Korean television series that premiered on January 5, 2009, on KBS2TV, and after 25 episodes ended on March 31 of that year. The series is the third film adaptation of the original manga, preceded by Taiwanese (Meteor Garden) and Japanese (Hana Yori Dango) versions.

“Boys Over Flowers” is an original Korean drama that depicts the relationships of teenagers in different social backgrounds. Briefly about the plot

The South Korean drama aired in 2009. It consists of one season, which includes 25 episodes. They tell about the girl Kum Chang Di, whose family owns a small dry cleaner. They have practically no money, so the schoolgirl is forced to work for her parents for free. Next to the family dry cleaner is the elite Shinhwa College, where the offspring of the wealthy people of South Korea study.

The drama “Boys Over Flowers” begins with Kum Chang Di meeting with a young man who wants to commit suicide by throwing himself off the roof of a college.

To calm the scandal caused by his act, under pressure from the press, the school administration is awarding Kum Chang Di a scholarship to study at Shinhwa. There she meets the guys from F4 – the richest, most influential, and arrogant students. But Chang Di is not going to tolerate their arrogant behavior and plans to confront the teenagers.

Goo Hye Sun

Goo Hye Sun has been cast as the female lead in this series. The actors, whose biography did not include a large number of roles, woke up famous in an instant. Hye Sun, who plays Kum Chang Di, was no exception. Her character is a lively girl who can stand up for herself. However, she is also distinguished by kindness and a desire for justice.

The actress herself began acting in dramas back in 2006, starring in the TV series “Pure Hearts”. For this role, she received the South Korean Award for Best Emerging Actress. The very next year, Goo Hye Sun is cast in a story-themed drama “The King and Me.” In 2009 she successfully passed the casting for the project.

Lee Min Ho

Korean actor Lee Min Ho has played the role of the F4 leader in the series. The actors who played in it worked as both musicians and dancers. Min Ho started his career in modeling. He made his debut in 2006 when, after numerous auditions, he finally landed a role in “Schoolyard Secrets”. Unfortunately, he did not receive much response from the audience.

Finally, in 2009, he comes to success when he gets the role of Jun Phe, a spoiled teenager who falls in love with the main character of this drama.

Kim Hyun Joong

The actor played the role of Yoon Ji Hoo, a genius musician and romantic youth from F4. He also falls in love with Chang Di, but she doesn’t notice his feelings. Like his character, Ji Hoo is a talented musician. He was the leader of the Korean pop group SS501, which existed until 2010, and then went into solo work.
